Norway Ministry of Justice and the Police

Royal Norwegian Ministry of Justice and the Police (Justis- og politidepartementet) is a Norwegian government ministry in charge of justice, police and domestic intelligence. The main purpose of the Ministry is to provide for the maintenance and development of the basic guarantees of the rule of law. An overriding objective is to ensure the security of society and of individual citizens.
The Minister of Justice is the head of the Ministry, and its political leader. The position is currently being held by Minister of Justice and the Police Knut Storberget from the Norwegian Labour Party. The Minister has currently two State Secretaries and a political adviser, who are all political appointees.
The ministry was founded in 1818 and currently employs about 270 people. It is organized into the following sections:

Penal and rehabilitation matters
Legal issues
Arctic affairs
Police
Rescue and readiness
Civil rights issues
Planning and administration
Analytics
