Jack White and Karen Elson are marking their sixth anniversary by getting a divorce -- and throwing a party for close friends and family in Nashville on Friday to celebrate the (happy?) occasion.
If there were ever an occasion for separate checks, this has to be it.
"We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee," the former White Stripes singer and the model said in a statement to several media outlets. "We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow."
According to the invitation, the point is to recognize their "6th anniversary and their upcoming divorce with a positive swing bang hum dinger" -- which sounds like way more fun than, say, arbitration.
White and Elson were married on June 1, 2005, in a canoe at the spot where three rivers come together in Manaus, Brazil. A shaman officiated, and blessing at a Catholic church followed the ceremony. Meg White, Jack's first ex-wife and at the time his partner in the White Stripes, was the maid of honor.
In a statement, Jack White wrote, "We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow."
Jack White and Karen Elson will share joint custody of their children, Scarlett Teresa White and Henry Lee White.
We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow," they said in a statement.
Jack White is best known for his work with The White Stripes, which broke up earlier this year. He now plays in the band The Ranconteurs.
