Fat Joe "Drops a Body" – literally! The rapper (real name Joseph Antonio Cartagena) is flaunting a slimmer figure in his new music video, "Drop a Body."
Joe, whose single "Lean Back" with Remy Ma was a number-one hit back in the summer of 2004, is now 40 and 88 lbs. lighter.
"I can't leave my daughter behind," he told New York's Daily News of 5-year-old Azaryah. "I want to be here for her; I don't want to die on her.
Joe says he dropped the weight over the past nine months by working out two hours a day with a trainer, and by sticking to healthier foods. After seven of his friends in their 30s passed away last year due to heart attacks, Fat Joe tells the paper he had a wake-up call: "Health doesn't discriminate just because I'm famous.
I was always LL Cool J in a fat guy's body," he told the paper referring to the rapper and "NCIS: Los Angeles" star known for his chiseled frame. Fat Joe says that at his heaviest he weighed 425 pounds but is now at around 265 pounds.
He says a diet of six small meals a day consisting of lean meats, vegetables and whole grains helped him get closer to a healthier lifestyle. He also began working out with a trainer for two hours a day. "Health doesn't discriminate just because I'm famous," he said.
In the photos above, the rapper can be seen on the left at VH-1 Hip Hop Honors on Saturday Oct. 7, 2006. On the right Fat Joe is featured in a video interview in June 2011 for the Daily News.
The Web started buzzing about Fat Joe's new look when the video for his latest single "Drop a Body" hit the web earlier this week. The 40-year-old, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, is a native New Yorker.
Accordingly, Joseph Antonio Cartagena, lost the weight by combining 2 hour cardio and weight lifting sessions with proper eating habits. Instead of BK, KFC, and McD’s, Fat Joe opted for smaller portioned meals of fruit, veggies, and lean meats.
Will Fat Joe will gonna change his old nick name now that he became slim?
